The Legal Order issued on March 17th 1988 by the Department of Agriculture, Farming and Mounts officially recognised the Rías Baixas denomination of origin for the wines produced in this winegrowing area. After that, by a Legal Order issued on July 4th 1988, the Regulations on the Rías Baixas Denomination of Origin and its Regulating Council were also approved.

During the enforcement period of the said denomination, it gradually became more serious and organised until achieving an adequate degree of development with regard to winegrowers and wine merchants. This situation makes it advisable to update the existing regulations, taking into account the statutory changes that could affect them.

This updating process led to the creation of new regulations on the Rías Baixas Denomination of Origin, taking into account the need to modify certain articles, due to technical criteria, statutory issues affecting them directly or even some other formal aspects that have been included in the new phrasing.

Order from October 23rd 1996 whereby the regulations on the Rías Baixas Denomination of Origin and its Regulating Council are approved.
Order from July 9th 1997 whereby the regulations on the Rías Baixas Denomination of Origin and its Regulating Council are modified.
Order from May 24th 2000 whereby the regulations on the Rías Baixas Denomination of Origin and its Regulating Council are modified.
